Mango Sticky Rice
Mango Sticky Rice is a Popular Thai dessert food
Ingredients:
For the Sticky Rice:
- 1 cup glutinous rice
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Topping:
- 2 ripe mangoes, peeled and sliced
- Sesame seeds (optional, for garnish)
- Mint leaves (optional, for garnish)
For the Coconut Sauce:
- 1 cup coconut milk
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
Instructions:
Prepare the Sticky Rice:
- Rinse the glutinous rice under cold water until the water runs clear.
- Soak the rice in water for at least 4 hours or overnight.
Steam the Sticky Rice:
- Drain the soaked rice and place it in a steamer lined with cheesecloth or a clean kitchen towel.
- Steam the rice for 25-30 minutes or until it becomes translucent and sticky.
Prepare the Coconut Sauce:
- In a saucepan, combine the coconut milk, sugar, and salt for the coconut sauce.
- Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar dissolves. Do not let it boil. Once done, set aside.
Mix the Sticky Rice with Coconut Sauce:
- In a bowl, combine the steamed sticky rice with coconut milk, sugar, and salt. Mix well until the rice is evenly coated.
Assemble the Mango Sticky Rice:
- Arrange a portion of the sweetened sticky rice on a plate or in a bowl.
- Top the rice with sliced mangoes.
Drizzle with Coconut Sauce:
- Pour the coconut sauce over the mango and sticky rice.
Garnish and Serve:
- Optionally, garnish with sesame seeds and mint leaves for added texture and freshness.
