Maggie Goreng is a popular Malaysian dish made with instant noodles stir-fried with various ingredients. Here’s a basic recipe for Maggie Goreng:
Ingredients:
- 2 packs of instant noodles (commonly used brands in Malaysia are Maggi or Mamee)
- 2 tablespoons cooking oil
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 small onion, thinly sliced
- 1 small carrot, julienned
- 1 small bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 small tomato, diced
- 2 eggs
- 2 tablespoons soy sauce
- 1 tablespoon chili sauce or sambal oelek (adjust to taste)
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Chopped green onions or cilantro for garnish (optional)
Instructions:
-
Cook the instant noodles according to the package instructions, then drain and set aside.
-
Heat the cooking oil in a large skillet or wok over medium-high heat.
-
Add the minced garlic and sliced onions to the skillet and sauté until fragrant and translucent, about 1-2 minutes.
-
Add the julienned carrots and sliced bell peppers to the skillet and stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until they begin to soften.
-
Push the vegetables to one side of the skillet and crack the eggs into the empty space. Scramble the eggs until cooked through, then mix them together with the vegetables.
-
Add the cooked instant noodles to the skillet along with the diced tomatoes, soy sauce, and chili sauce. Stir well to combine all the ingredients.
-
Season with salt and pepper to taste. Continue to stir-fry for another 2-3 minutes until everything is heated through and well combined.
-
Taste and adjust the seasoning if needed, then remove the skillet from the heat.
-
Serve the Maggie Goreng hot, garnished with chopped green onions or cilantro if desired.
